X-15 History

X-15 was the first plane was the first plane which could actually fly into the space. After a serious crash land better versions were developed. In air flight controls were used and at the edge of space thrusters were used for maneuverability. Its hull was made of Iconel X a steel alloy (steel nickel). The pilot wore a full pressurized suit. A total of 199 flights were made by these X-15s.
