SR-71
History
Development started in 1963. It was flown for the first time on Dec. 22, 1964. USAF and NASA started a joint project in 1969 for flight test. Sr-71 was developed for the USAF as reconnaissance aircraft more than 30 years ago. The SR-71 has delta-wings. The fuel is contained in the fuselage and the wing tanks. There is an automatic fuel distribution system that keeps the plane’s centre of gravity. The structure of Black Bird is made of titanium and titanium alloys. The structure is then coated with radar absorbing paint. Though it was painted so it does not come on radar but radar caught it with its exhaust plume. The pilots wear full pressurized suits.
