Sopwith Camel History

It was first produced in 1916. It entered war in May 1917. It earned its reputation in only two months of war as a trench strafer. It could spin out of control during tight turns and caused deaths during training. But it had great agility and good rate of climb and this made it a popular fighter. The Sopwith Camel squadrons shot down nearly 1,294 enemy fighters. They were also in service with navy as a carrier based plane.
