F4U Corsair History

Development of F4U Corsair began in 1938 designed by Chance-Vought Company. It flew for the first time on 29 May 1940. It was delivered on 31 July 1942 after specific modifications were made. Further improvements were made in the landing gear. It was the most capable carrier based fighter bomber of its time.
