F-14
History
It flew for the first time on 21 December 1970. It entered service in 1973. F-14 has advanced weapons control system, can track 24 targets and can attack six with Phoenix AIM-54A missiles while continuing to scan the airspace. It is a 2-seat, twin-engine fighter with twin tails and variable-geometry wings. The wings are shoulder-mounted and are programmed for automatic sweep during flight. The cockpit is fitted with a Kaiser AN/AVG-12 Head-Up Display. A Northrop AN/AXX-1 Television Camera Set (TCS) is used for visual target identification at long ranges. Many versions with improved engine performance, speed and altitude were also developed.
