Antonov 225 History

Antonov 225 made its maiden flight in 1988 and it started working in 1989. It is an advanced form of Antonov 124. The rear cargo doors were removed with a nose door still in place. Additional sets of tires and extra engines were introduced. When the Buran project was abandoned Antonov 225 was grounded. It was made airworthy in 2001. Antonov finds many uses in different regions. Boeing 737’s completely assembled fuselage can be fitted in it. It can also prove to transport USA’s space shuttle and work as a launch pad for X–planes.
