Airbus 321 History

The development of A321 was inaugurated in November 1989. After series of development steps the first of A321 flew its maiden flight on March 11 1993. There were noticeable changes in the A320 and A321. One of the major changes was the stretched fuselage. Other changes included more power, strength, refined fuel system, better braking system, double slotted flaps on the wings and accurate handling. The maximum range of A321-100 – the first version- reduced as it flew without extra fuel capacity. Airbus launched development of A321-200 in 1995, the first of which flew in December 1996. A321-200 has longer range which is achieved by replacing engines with better ones and an extra 2900 liters of fuel.
